Legal notice to promote all primary school head teachers to 10th grade
Supreme Court lawyer Mohammad Siddique Ullah Mia sent the notice to the Law Secretary, Public Administration Secretary, Education Secretary, Finance Secretary and Primary and Mass Education Secretary by registered post on Wednesday. The notice has requested them to take action regarding the head teachers within seven days. Otherwise, it has been mentioned that the matter will be brought to the court’s notice.
Lawyer Siddique Ullah Mia said that the High Court delivered its verdict on February 25, 2019, after disposing of the writ petitions filed by 45 head teachers regarding the upgrade of grades with directions. The verdict directed that the head teachers of government primary schools (trained and untrained) be upgraded to the 10th grade and given the status of a second-class gazetted officer. The state appealed to the Appellate Division against this, which was dismissed. The Appellate Division disposed of the appeal seeking review of this verdict and gave its verdict on March 13. As a result, the order to promote government primary school head teachers (trained and untrained) to the 10th grade and give them the status of a second-class gazetted officer remained in effect. After the Appellate Division’s verdict, the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education promoted 45 head teachers to the 10th grade and gave them the status of a second-class gazetted officer on July 7, said lawyer Siddiq Ullah Mia. He said, however, the number of head teacher posts in primary schools in the country is about 65,000. They are deprived of that benefit. However, even if not all of them file a case, there is a precedent that the rest can be given equal opportunities according to the verdict. For this reason, legal notices have been sent to promote all head teachers to the 10th grade.
